Charlie was born to Charles and Jenny Floyd Rice on July 16, 1918 at the family home between Cusick and Locke, Washington. He passed peacefully in his sleep at Spokane Hospice House on September 3, 2012. Charlie graduated from North Central High School in 1936 and served in the Navy during World War II. An accomplished woodworker, Charlie took over the family cabinet-making business upon his father’s retirement and operated Ricebilt Fixtures until his own retirement in 1980. An accomplished woodworker, Charlie took over the family cabinet-making business upon his father’s retirement and operated Ricebilt Fixtures until his own retirement in 1980. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Virginia, and his brother Howard Rice. He is survived by his sister, Jayne Bailor, son Charles Rice (Susan), grandchildren Jennifer Ross (Kevin), Chad Rice (Tasha), and Tony Brant, along with numerous great-grandchildren nieces and nephews. Per Charlie’s request, no funeral service will be held. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, WA 99210-2472.
