John Heath

August 25, 1967 to September 7, 2012

John passed away suddenly on September 7, 2012.

John was born to Kenneth Parkin and Ardell (Powers) Parkin on August 25, 1967 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

John graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1985, attended North Idaho College and received training as an EMT.

John dedicated most of his life to helping others.

He worked for Kootenai County Fire District, Lifebird at Deaconess Medical Center, and Spokane Ambulance.

In 1992 he moved to Portland, OR where he worked for Emanuel Medical Center, AMR and Lifeflight.

In 1999, he returned home to fight wild land fires and dispatched for the U.S. Forest Service.

He then spent 10 years dispatching for Northwest MedStar.

He most recently dispatched for Coeur d’Alene Paving and Allied Fire & Security.
In 2004, John met and married the love of his life Michelle Rasmussen and adored his two step-children Katalina and Nicholas.

He now had the family he had always dreamed about.

His dream of living in the country was realized in 2007 when they moved to Wolf Lodge.

John enjoyed being in the woods and spending time with his family and friends, camping, hiking, backpacking, hunting, fishing, jeeping, and riding ATVs.

John also was a leader with the Harmony Hustlers 4-H Club.

John was always quick to laugh and loved to joke around.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his wife Michelle, step-children Katalina and Nicholas Pelz (Coeur d’Alene), parents Ken and Ardell Parkin (Coeur d’Alene), grandmother Marge Powers (Coeur d’Alene), sister and brother-in-law Paula and Lynn Woods (Otis Orchards), brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Kristy Parkin (Post Falls), father-in-law and mother-in-law Lynn and Myrna Rasmussen(Coeur d’Alene), sister and brother-in-law Chet and Sarah Sistek (Post Falls) as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his grandfather Mike Powers and grandparents Don and Peggy Parkin.
In lieu of flowers a trust fund has been established at Numerica Credit Union for the family.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 4pm Thursday, September 13, 2012 at The Willow’s, 6850 Wolf Lodge Creek Road Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
