Victim of North Idaho arson-suicide identified
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man who set his home on fire then killed himself Friday in the Wolf Lodge neighborhood.
John H. Parkin, 45, was served a temporary protection order and told to move out of his home on Searchlight Lane pending a hearing Friday at 12:30, a news release from the sheriff’s office said. Parkin was escorted from the home by deputies, who were informed later that afternoon that Parkin had returned to the home.

Investigators confirmed that Parkin started the fire in the modular home then shot himself. The home was destroyed. When firefighters entered, they found a badly burned body.
