Obituary: Mize, Velma

Age 84

MIZE, Velma R.

Velma Ruth Mize (Baughman) was born in Hollister, Missouri on September 12, 1928 to Doris and Clara Baughman.

Velma graduated from Hollister High School in 1948, married Clifton A. Rogers in 1950, and moved to Yakima, Washington.

Velma moved back to Hollister with their son Clifton A. Rogers Jr. in 1952.

In 1968 she married Lecel Mize.

Velma worked as a waitress at the Branson CafĂŠ and Shack Restaurants in Branson, Missouri until she moved back to Yakima in 1975.

While in Yakima she worked as an In Home Care Provider for several years.

In 2000 she moved to Spokane and resided there until her passing.

In the last few years of her life, Velma enjoyed her residency at Fairview Assisted Living.



Velma is survived by one son Cliff Rogers and wife Sheryldene of Nine Mile Falls, Washington, two grandchildren David Rogers and wife Samantha of Kennewick, Washington and Kristen Rogers of Nine Mile Falls, Washington, and one brother Joe Baughman of Rockaway Beach, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents Doris and Clara Baughman, brother; Bob Baughman, sister; Barbara Cobb, and husband Lecel Mize.



The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Fairview Assisted Living for the ongoing care and support, and the staff at Family Medicine of Spokane and Sacred Heart Hospital for their care of Velma during the last few days of her life.
