Rose begins jumping on repaired knee
NBA: Derrick Rose says his surgically repaired left knee is getting better and he is even jumping on it.
The Chicago Bulls’ superstar started doing that “a couple of days ago,” another step in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Rose spoke Thursday at an unveiling of his new shoe and apparel line for Adidas.

James’ shoe bargain at $270
NBA: That $300 LeBron James sneaker? It won’t be $300.
In the wake of speculation that Nike’s impending James release would eclipse the $300 mark, Nike said that the top end of the “LeBron X” line will go on sale on Sept. 22 for $270.
That model, however, will include Nike’s high-end technology package. The more standard model of the shoe will retail for $180.

UM ceremony includes locals
College football: Six local players will be among the honorees for today’s induction of the 2001 University of Montana football team in the school’s Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame.
The Grizzlies went 15-1 and defeated Furman 13-6 for the I-AA title.
Locals include Kevin Edwards, safety, Lewis and Clark; Jason Francis, defensive tackle, Gonzaga Prep; Blake Horgan, DT, East Valley; Lucas Langbehn, punter, Deer Park; Chris Snyder, kicker, Mt. Spokane; and Jonny Varona, DT, Medical Lake.
