Boise State cruises past Miami (Ohio)

D.J. Harper rushed for a career-high 162 yards and three touchdowns to lead Boise State past visiting Miami (Ohio) 39-12 on Saturday.

Harper, a sixth-year senior who was granted a medical redshirt and an extra year of eligibility, also caught a 21-yard pass from Joe Southwick and ran for a 2-point conversion.

Boise State (1-1) won its eleventh straight home opener, overcoming a pair of first-half turnovers before pulling away for good in the second half.

The RedHawks (1-2) took a 9-8 lead in the second quarter after Pat Hinkel’s fumble at the Boise State 9 set up a 2-yard touchdown pass from Spencer Treadwell to Andy Cruse.

Boise State responded with seven-play, 75-yard drive, culminating with a 1-yard scoring run by Harper to retake the lead.

Montana St. 43, Stephen F. Austin 35: Cody Kirk scored three TDs, including a 6-yard run with 2:26 left, to lift the Bobcats to a win over the Lumberjacks in Bozeman. The lead changed hands four times in the fourth quarter.Tanner Bleskin caught 10 passes for 180 yards for Montana State (3-0).

Brady Attaway threw for 418 yards and three scores for Stephen F. Austin (1-2) .

Montana 34, Liberty 14: Peter Nguyen ran a punt back 90 yards for a touchdown to pace the Grizzlies to a win over the Flames (0-3) in Missoula.

The Grizzlies (2-1) tacked on another 17 points before halftime on a 32-yard run by Dan Moore, a 6-yard run by Trent McKinney and a 42-yard field goal by Chris Lider.

Auburn 31, Louisiana-Monroe 28 (OT): Cody Parkey hit a 35-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Tigers (1-2) to a win over a visiting Warhawks (1-1) team trying to pull off another Southeastern Conference upset.

Auburn stopped Kolton Browning and Louisiana-Monroe to start overtime, and Justin Manton’s 37-yard field goal fell short. The Warhawks rallied from 28-7 down to shock Arkansas in overtime a week ago.

Wisconsin 16, Utah State 14: The Aggies’ Josh Thompson missed a 37-yard field goal with seconds remaining, allowing the Badgers to hold on for a victory in Madison, Wis.

Thompson missed a kick wide right, preserving a win for the Badgers (2-1).

Utah State (2-1) built its first-half lead on a pair of touchdown passes from Chuckie Keeton.
