Obituary: Bailey, Donald Edward
Age 80
Passed away September 12, 2012 in Bend, Oregon from emphysema and a lung infection.
He was born on October 7, 1931 as the second of four children to Edward M. and Amelia Ruth (Sites) Bailey.
His two sisters Jean Cooper and Donna Areheart and brother Rodger Bailey survive him.
Don is also survived by his daughter Susan (Mike) Johnson; son Max (Moon) Bailey, son Barry (Bronwyn) Bailey; his grandchildren Eric (Christine) Johnson, Evan (Ericka) Johnson, Ethan (Diann) Johnson, Angela (Chris) McDougall, Ryan Bailey, Amber Bailey, Tanner Bailey, Chase Bailey; his great-grandchildren Mai-Le Johnson, Conner McDougall, Braden McDougall, Melody Bailey, Liam Bailey, and Madison Fanshawe, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.
Don will be remembered by family and friends as an avid outdoorsman having loved hunting, fishing, and camping.
Don spent most of his life in Eastern Washington, primarily Northeastern Washington in Colville, Kettle Falls, and Metaline/Metaline Falls areas.
He and his first wife Lasca (Kenworthy) raised their family in the Metaline Falls area where he worked in the mines.
Then he worked as a supervisor for Seattle City Lights drilling an exploratory tunnel to decide the feasibility of the future site for Boundary Dam.
He also worked as a heavy equipment operator for highway construction all over Eastern Washington and Northern California before taking over the operation of the Chevron service station in Kettle Falls when his dad retired in 1969.
Don spent the last several years in Bend, Oregon with his youngest son Barry and his family and was blessed to help care for his two youngest grandsons.
A memorial service is being planned for Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Moon’s Mongolian Restaurant on North Division in Spokane at 2:00 pm.
Family and friends are invited to attend.
