Passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012.

He was born in Pullman, WA on July 15, 1939 to Vernon and Herdis Phelps.

Larry graduated from North Central High School and immediately entered the Coast Guard where he spent four years going Pole to Pole on an icebreaker.

Upon his return to Spokane, he met and married the love of his life, Irene (JoAnne) and they began the journey of growing up together over the next 50 years.

Larry was a plumber by trade and enjoyed a successful career resulting in 23 years co-owning Thee Plumbers Two.

When he retired in 2005 he was able to focus on his favorite activity, building amazing cars.

He began his love of creating beautiful cars in high school and never stopped.

He was recognized over the years with numerous awards for his finished hot rods, which he built from the ground up.

Larry loved anything fast and was a true NASCAR fan.

He loved fast boats, snowmobiles, jet skis and anything that had four wheels and tires.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Carol.

Larry is survived by his wife Irene (JoAnne), his children Todd Phelps and Tricia Hendrix (Mike) and his grandchildren who he loved dearly, Alexa Phelps, Max, Jacob and Zak Hendrix.

He is also survived by his sisters Donna Treffry (Ray) and Gayle Snedden (Terry), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Life Center North Church, 8303 N. Division (directly behind Ennis Furniture).

At the family’s request, casual dress is preferred, as Larry loved his Hawaiian shirts and shorts.
