The Manito/Cannon Hill Neighborhood Council is meeting Tuesday to evaluate three options for a new crosswalk at Manito Boulevard and 29th Avenue.
That part of 29th Avenue is under construction and neighbors – who have long lobbied for a crosswalk at that intersection – wanted to make sure a crosswalk is installed as part of the bigger road construction project.
City staff will present the three options at the meeting, and the neighborhood council will pick one as its preferred solution.
The three options are: a midblock crosswalk with flashing lights, connecting the greenspaces on Manito Boulevard ($25,000); a crosswalk on the east side of the intersection with a median on 29th Avenue ($17,825); or a painted midblock crosswalk ($3,780).
Detailed plans are available online at the neighborhood council’s website www.mchnc.wildapricot.org under “traffic calming.”
A second crosswalk, featuring striping and a sign at Bernard Street and 25th Avenue, was also requested by the neighborhood and also has been approved by the city.
