Obituary: Taylor, Virgil R.

TAYLOR, Virgil R.
(Age 91)

Passed away September 16, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

He was born May 7, 1921 in Seminole, OK to Monroe and Flora Rosetta (Wallace) Taylor.

Virgil was a World War II combat veteran with the US Army Air Corps.

He served as a radio operator and gunner on B-17 Bombers, and was twice awarded the Purple Heart.

A resident of the Spokane area for over 60 years, Virgil spent several years as a successful salesman for WMA Insurance, and later worked as a stockbroker.

Virgil will be remembered by many as a land developer, a career in which he prospered for many years, retiring in his 70s.

He also enjoyed time spent as a H.A.M.

radio operator for a number of years.

Virgil is survived by his wife of 67 years, Erma Taylor of Colbert, WA; son, Larry Taylor of Chattaroy, WA; daughter, Susan Kosoff (Mike) of Spokane; four grandchildren, Tim, Larry, Joel and Jeff; four great-grandchildren, Raelene, Danielle, Liberty and Isaiah; sister, Phyllis Bailey; brother, Junior Taylor (June); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Preston Taylor.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home, 5100 W. Wellesley.

Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
