Fiona Apple arrested for having hashish

From Wire Reports

Singer-songwriter Fiona Apple was arrested for hashish possession at a West Texas Border Patrol checkpoint after a drug-sniffing dog detected marijuana in her tour bus. Hudspeth County sheriff’s office spokesman Rusty Fleming told the Associated Press on Thursday that Apple spent Wednesday night in the county jail in Sierra Blanca. Apple was released Thursday after posting bail.

Country singer Willie Nelson, rapper Snoop Dogg and actor Armand Hammer also have been arrested in Sierra Blanca on marijuana charges.

While marijuana possession in small amounts is a misdemeanor, the Texas Controlled Substance Act says possession of hashish in any quantity is a felony.

NYPD releases Lohan driving video

New York police on Thursday released portions of the videotape related to allegations that actress Lindsay Lohan hit a pedestrian and then fled from the scene.

The portion of the video shows Lohan driving around a group of people near an alley in the Chelsea neighborhood. The video does not show anyone being hit, but it is possible the incident happened out of camera range.

Still, sources familiar with the case say the security video should aid in her defense, because even if she grazed the chef, the contact was so minor she would not have been aware of it. Lohan was arrested for allegedly leaving an accident scene.

Lewinsky to pen another book

What to say about a book deal for Monica Lewinsky that will bring her a reported $12 million? Slate points out former President Bill Clinton, with whom Lewinsky had a sexual relationship, was paid $15 million for his memoir.

Lewinsky has already told her story once, in “Monica’s Story.” The new book is rumored to have three things that the earlier one did not: more salacious details about Lewinsky and Clinton, ostensible complaints by Clinton about his wife, Hillary, and Lewinsky’s love letters to Clinton, previously unpublished.

It’s been 15 years since Lewinsky’s encounters with Clinton, and 14 since the story hit the airwaves.
