NC’s Knight runs to a meet record

North Cenral’s Katie Knight set a new meet record in winning the girls 5,000-meter race at the Bob Firman Invitational at Eagle Island State Park Saturday in Boise.

She finished in 17 minutes, 59 seconds, breaking her own meet record by 8 seconds.

It was the third year in a row that Knight has won the meet.

The North Central boys won the team title in a meet featuring teams from throughout the western United States. Kai Wilmot was the Indians’ top runner, finishing second in 15:06. Tanner Anderson was fifth in 15:32.

Football

Cusick 85, Curlew 0: Cusick had eight touchdown passes as the Panthers (4-0, 1-0) routed the host Cougars (0-4, 0-2) in a Northeast 1B North League game.

Cusick scored 38 first-quarter points and led 69-0 at halftime.

Boys soccer

IML: Bonners Ferry (3-5-1, 2-0) scored five first-half goals and eased past Priest River (0-5, 0-3) 7-0 at Bonners Ferry. The Badgers held a 15-2 advantage in shots.

Girls soccer

IML: Elizabeth Racer scored five times – all coming in the first half – to lead Bonners Ferry (5-2, 5-0) to a 7-1 win over visiting Priest River (0-9, 0-7). Angel Clark scored the Spartans’ lone goal in the 54th minute.
