Obituary: Colistro, Robert J.

COLISTRO, Robert J.
“Bob” (Age 91)

Passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

Born Roberto Giuseppe Clemente Colistro, Bob was born, raised and lived his entire life on the same block in the Minnehaha area of Spokane and he graduated from Gonzaga High School in 1937.

Extremely proud of his Italian heritage, Bob’s home was often referred to as the “Capital” of Little Italy.

Bob loved his work as a diesel fuel pump specialist for Cummins Diesel, and was a lifelong member of the Machinists Union.

He also loved playing the saxophone and played in a dance band for many years.

Bob’s homemade sausage, wine and green olives were known throughout the Italian community.

He was a charter member of St Mary’s, now Mary Queen Catholic Church.

Mentoring his children and grandchildren was his proudest achievement.

His last words to his family were “I have no more worries”.

He is now reunited with his beautiful daughter “Lindy Lou” and wife Norma.

Bob is survived by his daughter Marilyn Hoffman (Dan); grandchildren John Donohoe (Ronnita), children Kyla and Isabella, Jamie Donohoe (Erin), children Sam and Nathan, Brian Brake (Mindy), children Madison, Mallory and Ethan, Kevin Brake (John); and sister Joan (Carl) Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Norma, and daughter Linda Brake-Lewis.

Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 27 at 11:00 am at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 3423 E Carlisle.

A special thank you to the staff at Clare Bridge for meeting all of Bob’s needs with love and compassion.
