KARSTETTER, Matthew

Matthew “Matt” James Karstetter was born January 22, 1978 in Yakima, Washington to James D. and Susan Menig-Karstetter.

He graduated from West Valley High School in 1996 and immediately joined the Marine Corps as a Tow Gunner.

Following the Corps, he attended Central Washington University and then trained at Northwest Lineman’s College in Meridian, Idaho.

Matt worked for Bonneville Power Administration since 2004 and died September 20, 2012 in a work related accident in Montana.
On September 3, 2011 he married Kara Griffith, they resided in Spokane.

Matt is survived by his wife Kara Karstetter, daughter Danielle Griffith-Snow, and expected son Matthew James Karstetter, Jr.

He is also survived by his father James D. Karstetter, his mother Susan Menig-Karstetter, his sister Jessica M. Karstetter and her daughter Genesis, all of Yakima, Washington, as well as his father-in-law Daniel Griffith, and his mother-in-law Christine Griffith of Libby, Montana.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Karstetter children’s education fund at Numerica Credit Union.

Services are being held for Matt at the Hennessey Smith Funeral Home located at 2203 N. Division, Spokane, Washington 99207 Thursday, September 27th, at 12:00p.m.

followed by a procession to the graveside services at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington.


A memorial service will be held at a later date in Yakima, Washington at St.Paul’s Cathedral.
