In Loving Memory
Local businessman and one of the Colville community’s most loyal supports, John Patrick Acorn, age 69, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on September 23, 2012.
John was born on January 11, 1943 in Colville to Helen and Archie Acorn.
He graduated from Colville High School in 1961.
John had a happy childhood, spending most of his summers at the family cabin at the Little Pend Oreille lakes.
He and his brothers never missed the first day of fishing.
He attended college in Pasco, WA and kept in contact with his classmates for the next 50 years, organizing reunions.
John owned and operated the Acorn Beer Distributorship for many years.
He was always happy to sponsor local teams for Babe Ruth, softball, bowling, or share his warehouse space with the Volunteer Food and Resource Center for the cheese distribution in the 80’s.
If it was a worthwhile project, he was all for it.
John was devoted to his community and worked tirelessly on projects that benefited us all.
His activities through the years included the Colville Rodeo, Colville Jaycees, Colville Fire Department, Colville Chamber of Commerce, preserving the cross on Colville Mountain, Colville 2000, and many, many hours spent with the Colville Pet Rescue, to name just a few.
He also served in the National Guard.
John really enjoyed golfing, and spending time with his golfing buddies.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Helen Acorn, brother William Acorn, and son Brian Acorn.
He is survived by his wife Jeanie, at the home; brother Robert Acorn and his wife Jen, Merrimac, MA; sons Scott Acorn, Colorado; Shane Acorn and wife Bonnie, Colville, WA; daughters Melody Carpenter and husband Chance, Colville, WA; Shawna Wicker and husband Gordon, Spokane, WA; step daughter Laure Simpson and husband Dale; grandchildren Nick, Luke, Janae, Aaron, Levi, Drew, Spencer, Gavin, Gracie, and several cousins.
