Plaintiffs in Exxon lawsuits sought

Associated Press

KODIAK, Alaska – A settlement fund set up to pay plaintiffs from lawsuits stemming from the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill still has about $1 million left to disperse.

KMXT reports about 900 people haven’t claimed money from the Exxon Qualified Settlement Fund.

Plaintiffs’ attorney Dave Oesting, of Anchorage, Alaska, says there will be one last push to find these people.

If these people can’t be found, the money will be turned over to the states from their last known address. The claimants are from many places in the Lower 48, including California, Oregon and Washington state.

Oesting also said if a claimant has died, his or her heirs are entitled to the settlement funds.
