Nicholas Allan

Nick was born December 3rd, 1948 in Spokane, Washington to Verona and Bob Clemenson.

He passed away after a year long battle with cancer on September 23rd, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He attended Garfield Elementary, North Central H.S.

Class of 1967 then enlisted in the U.S. Navy 1968-1970 Vietnam/Korea.
Graduate of Eastern Washington University with a degree from the school of Social Work.

Area Director for Special Olympics 15 years.

Worked for DSHS 30+ years in Social Services in many capacities as a Social Worker, Program Manager and other jobs within DSHS on both sides of the mountains.

He first worked at Lakeland Village in Medical Lake after returning from service in the Navy.

Served as Commander of VFW Post 51 2001-2002 in Spokane.

He met his wife, Susan, at Lakeland Village and married in 1971.

Lakeland was the start of his many years of dedication to people with disabilities.

He was an advocate of social justice for all.

Nick will be remembered for his optimistic views and organizational skills to make things happen.

He liked to make people happy, have a good time and resisted boredom at all cost.
Devoted Dad to Robyn, Carisue and Justin.

Loved his Grandchildren: Lyndsay, Loryn Jeanne, Blayne and Brody Rodd, who loved playing with Grampa Nick.

Preceded in death by his father Robert, sister Nancy and brother Bob Clemenson.

Survived by his wife of 41 years, Susan, children, Robyn (Rob) Rodd, Justin, and Carisue; grandchildren; mother Verona; brother Tim Clemenson; sister Carol Hamill and many nieces and nephews.

Interment will take place Friday, October 5th at 1:30pm at the Washington State Veterans Memorial Cemetery: 21702 W. Espanola Rd.,Medical Lake, WA.

Followed by a Celebration of Nick’s Life beginning at 3pm at the VFW Post 51 located at 300 W. Mission Ave., Spokane, WA - Please join us, Nick would like “A good time to be had by all”.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Olympics or Project for Homeless Veterans in Nick’s name and memory.
