Obituary: Nelson, Laura
Passed away peacefully in her home on September 24th, 2012.
She was born on Valentine’s Day, 1916 in Davenport, WA to A.P. and Wilhemina Conrad. She graduated from Davenport High School and Kinman School of Business and then attended the University of Washington. Laura married Carl Nelson in 1941 and lived on the family farm south of Creston where they raised their five children.
She was a wonderful mom and grandma who loved children - the more the merrier! She took the time to play, to bake, to teach and was a great influence on all of our lives. Laura loved to do crossword puzzles, to read, garden, and sew and was involved in many community activities and clubs. She was very active in her church and served as a Sunday School teacher, as an elder and wherever she was needed. Laura was a sweet and gentle soul who will be remembered for her love of family and dedication to her community and church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl and four siblings: Ruth, Ernest, and John Conrad and Irene Martin. She is survived by her children: Linda and (Walt) Wruble of Spokane, Keith and (Sandy) Nelson of Lincoln, Joanne and (Ted) Hopkins of Creston, Carol and (Bob) Makins of Bremerton, and Curt and (Sherene) Nelson of Creston, 19 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
