Obituary: Bruya, Dick

Age 79

BRUYA, Dick (Age 79) Was born in Spokane, Washington, August 14, 1933, to Fred and Margaret Bruya.

He passed away March 28, 2013, in Langley, Washington.

He was raised in Spokane, attended Gonzaga Preparatory High School, graduating in 1951 and received his Pharmacy degree from Washington State University in 1958.

After a short stint in the US Army, he married Nora Bacca in 1957 in Potlatch, Idaho.

They raised their 5 children in Spokane living there until their retirement.

He worked his entire career as a retail pharmacist at Shadle Center.

Dick was a life member of the Elks #228 where he served as Exalted Ruler in 1980-81.

He was also active in the Knights of Columbus in many different roles including the Grand Knight of St. Charles Parish #8137.

A life long Cougar, he was an avid fan and alumni supporter.

He never gave up on his beloved Cougs.

He had a keen interest in genealogy and traced his family back many generations.

He loved to play golf, bridge and cribbage.

He is survived by Nora, his loving wife of 55 years, his five children Craig (Susan), Denise (Jeff Fong), Suzy, Rick (Kathy) and Brian (Yuling) and eight grandchildren Margaret, Nicolas, Emily, David, Meghan, Jackie, Alex and Giorgio and his brother Jim (Lynne) and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be sent to: Gonzaga Prep Scholarship Fund (gprep.com) and the Elks Therapy Program for Children (tallelks.org) A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Langley, WA, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM.
