Released Louisville guard Kevin Ware has been released from an Indianapolis hospital and is headed back to campus, two days after breaking his right leg during the Cardinals’ Final Four-clinching victory. Ware had been at Methodist Hospital since sustaining the horrific injury Sunday during the first half of Louisville’s 85-63 win over Duke.

Hired Craig Neal has been hired as New Mexico’s new head coach. Neal has spent the past six years as the associate head coach at New Mexico.

Acquired The Arizona Cardinals have acquired quarterback Carson Palmer from the Oakland Raiders. The Cardinals gave up a conditional 2014 draft pick and swapped one of their sixth-round picks this year for Oakland’s seventh-round selection.

Agreed Free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha has reached agreement on a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers that could pay him as much as $3 million this year.

• The Buffalo Bills have signed free agent defensive lineman Alan Branch to a one-year contract. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 325 pounds, Branch enters his seventh NFL season after spending the past two as a starter with the Seattle Seahawks.

Traded The Boston Bruins have acquired Jaromir Jagr from the Dallas Stars in an attempt to improve their shaky offense. The 10th leading goal scorer in NHL history, who leads the Stars in points this season, Jagr was traded for forwards Lane MacDermid and Cody Payne, and a conditional second-round pick in this year’s draft.

• The New York Rangers have acquired forward Ryane Clowe from the San Jose Sharks for three draft picks.

• The Vancouver Canucks have acquired center Derek Roy from the Dallas Stars for defenseman Kevin Connauton and a second-round pick.

• The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for forward Adam Hall and a draft pick.

Accepted Tulsa officials say they’ve accepted an invitation to join the Big East Conference beginning in 2014.
