Tunnel vision: A crew member, in red at right, is dwarfed by the 57 1/2-foot cutting face of a giant boring machine aboard a ship in Seattle’s Elliott Bay on Tuesday. The $80 million machine was built at a factory in Osaka, Japan. Its 41 pieces will be reassembled in a pit to begin the yearlong dig to create a 2-mile tunnel under downtown Seattle.
