CCS follows strong pitching to win

The Community Colleges of Spokane faced Blue Mountain Timberwolves in a doubleheader, with CCS coming away with both wins in Pendleton, Ore.

In the first game, Colton Loomis threw his first career complete game while striking out eight batters en route to a 3-0 victory.

In Game 2, Austin Bartleson hit a double and a triple while pitcher Cody McGlocklin tossed a complete game, giving CCS an 8-1 win.

Bartleson finished the doubleheader with four hits.

Softball

Kaitlin Inglesby tossed seven scoreless innings for her second shutout in two days and Kimberlee Souza hit her seventh home run of the season, a three-run blast in the first, to help the Washington Huskies complete a three-game sweep of UCLA with a 6-0 win in Los Angeles.

Missy Taukeiaho and Kylee Lahners also hit home runs for the Huskies. Taukeiaho’s was a solo shot while Lahners hit a two-run homer. Both came in the third inning.

Ally Carda was pinned with the loss for the Bruins after allowing all six runs on four hits in 2 2/3 innings.
