Born October 12, 1934 in Friday Harbor, WA, she was the daughter of Albert and Helen Beyer.
She spent her childhood living in several Pacific Northwest lighthouses as her dad was a lighthouse keeper for the US Coast Guard.
In eighth grade they moved to Vashon Island where she graduated high school.
Irene married Gary Edward Leslie and lived in Issaquah, WA where they had four children - Glen (Jeannine) of Mesa, AZ, Dale of Ellensburg, WA, Robin Bettis (Kevin) of Post Falls, ID and Deb (Lil) of Crescent, OR.
After divorcing in 1971, Irene married William James Anderson in June 1974.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents and husband Bill.
She is survived by her children and four stepchildren Angie Anderson (Paul) of Florida, Bill Anderson (Mallory) of Spokane, WA, Mike Anderson of Poulsbo, WA and Diane Carpenter (Michael) of Seattle, WA, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Irene and Bill moved to Spokane in 1976.
Irene worked in food service for Central Valley School District and HP.
Through the years she enjoyed reading, sewing, camping and spending time at Williams Lake.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held April 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Holman Gardens Retirement Community Fellowship Room at 12912 E. 12th, Spokane Valley.
