Obituary: Colstad, Glenn Howard

COLSTAD, Glenn Howard (Age 90) Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Glenn Howard Colstad, 90, of Osburn, Idaho passed away April 4, 2013 at the family home of Osburn.

He was born February 20, 1923 at Spokane, Washington; Glenn was the son of John and Olga Colstad.

Glenn attended and graduated from the Lewis and Clark High School of Spokane, Washington in 1941.

In 1943, Glen enlisted in the U.S. Navy and went to Farragut Training Station; from there he was sent to Saipan.

Glenn’s last duty station was Bremerton Naval Base of Bremerton, Washington.

Glenn married Lucille Smith on June 20, 1946 at Spokane, Washington; Lucille passed away in 1979.

Glenn then married Norma VanKuiken on July 27, 1985 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Wallace.

Glenn had served as a bookkeeper for various mining and mine related companies within the Silver Valley.

Glenn also co-owned and operated, along with his wife Norma, Mom & Me Flower shop- he also served as “delivery boy” for this flower business- he loved delivering flowers and visiting with people.

Glenn was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Wallace and a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus.

Glenn loved and enjoyed his family, spending time at home with his beloved Norma, sitting in the swing with Norma watching the birds and squirrels including a squirrel he named squirrely; he was most proud and took great care of his lawn; he also enjoyed traveling and was a #1 John Madden Raider fan.

Glenn is survived by his wife Norma Colstad of the family home; one son Ronn Colstad of Spokane, Washington; two daughters and their spouses Camie and Jack Beebe of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Connie and Brent Barratt of Fairfield, Washington; a step-daughter and her spouse Juli and Dan Peterson of Missoula, Montana; “his other daughter”- Carol; four grandchildren and their spouses Joe and Sarah Barratt, Casey and Aaron Fielder, Shane and Jondell Peterson and Kelsi and Lance Doering; and his great-grandchildren Isaak and Isabel Barratt, Kendall Fielder, Rylee Ann, Daniel, Hanna and Trey Peterson and Brody Doering.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Lucille.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Wallace.

A reception will be held at the Church Fellowship Hall following services.

Inurnment graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. at the Coeur d’ Alene Memorial Gardens of Coeur d’ Alene.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Hospice nurse April and aide Liz for their love and care that was shown to Glenn and his family.
