Bush the top vacationer
After reading several letters concerning President Barack Obama’s vacation time, I decided to find out for myself how many days he’s actually taken, compared to other presidents. By simply submitting the question to Google, I received answers from several different websites, such as factcheck.org, wiki.answers, Politic365 and dozens more.
Answers varied a little, but most estimate about 130 days for Obama’s first four years, or roughly 9 percent to 10 percent of his term. He is on track to get a little over 260 days for both terms. This is about average, compared to most recent presidents.
Compare these numbers to President George W. Bush, who took 977 to 1,020 days in eight years. These numbers vary a bit from website to website, but all agree Bush took more vacation days than any other president. Most websites agree that Bush was on vacation about 30 percent or more of his presidency.
I don’t ask anyone to take my word for it; do your own research.
