He was born in Spokane, WA on Feb. 27, 1930 to Charles and Francis Lister.
Preceding him in death were his parents, half-brother Donald DesRoches, brother Benjamin and nephew David.
Surviving Gene is his wife of 53 years, Barbara E. Lister, daughters Vickie Peick (John) and Terri Rydman (Thad) and four grandchildren Cameron, Chalyse and Collin Rydman and McKenzie Peick.
Sports had his attention through all of his “Growing Up” years.
Gene, “Mr. Lister”, obtained his teaching degree at Eastern Washington State College with scholarships in football and swimming.
He taught Social Studies and English at both the Jr. High and High School levels but his greatest love became coaching track and field at his Alma Mater, North Central HS.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing and watching his grandchildren learn to swim, hit the baseball and kick the soccer ball.
Gene also loved traveling, scuba diving and taking pictures.
He loved a challenge and had several acquaintances who taught him everything from plumbing, electrical, drywall, remodeling and build- ing cabinetry for restaurants and kitchens.
He was always ready to drop whatever he was doing to help a friend fix something.
A Memorial Service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, April 11, 1:00pm.
