Obituary: Kiehn, Daniel L. “Poppo” “Grampa Dan”

Age 56

KIEHN, Daniel L. “Poppo” “Grampa Dan” Dan was happy when his spirit left this earth on Thursday evening, March 21st.

The Zags had won!

He joined his two best hunting buddies that preceded him in death.

His father, Arvin Kiehn, and his big brother, Rick Kiehn.

Dan was born in Spokane, WA on April 1st, 1957 to Arvin and Lorna Kiehn.

This April, he would have turned 56 years old.

Dan grew up on Wellesley Avenue, graduating from Shadle Park High School in 1975.

His adult life was spent raising his family in Suncrest, Nine Mile Falls, WA, where he was proud to have had the same phone number for over 30 years.

After working for Rosauers for many years, Dan became a bread guy working for Hostess, and then for Franz bakery until he retired.

Dan was married to his sweetie, Julie, for 25 years.

He said he loved her from the moment he first saw her.

Together they have a daughter, Megan, of Spokane, who gave him his grandkids Ava, AJ, and Isaac.

From his first marriage, to Sandy, he leaves behind three more daughters.

Alyson, of Spokane, who gave him grandkids Sophia and Elias.

Lila, of Spokane, who gave him grand daughters Hailey and Addie.

Samantha, of Chewelah, who gave him grandsons Connrad and Josaiah.

Dan also leaves behind his mother, Lorna, his sister, Cheryl, and many family members and friends who understood and loved him.

Grampa Dan’s memory will live in every garden, complete with prize winning sunflowers, and in every hidden hunting spot.

On every fishing trip, every horseback ride, every camping / ocean / road trip adventure, and especially in every hot cup of coffee accompanied by a Kool-mild.

A celebration of his life will be held at his home in Suncrest on Saturday, April 13th, beginning at 12:00 noon.
