Obituary: Smick, Doris “Maxine”

Age 88

SMICK, Doris “Maxine” Passed away peacefully on March 29, 2013 at Riverview Care Center, after a brief illness following hip and heart surgery.

She was born in Spokane on August 15, 1924 to Gertrude and Ernest Clem.

She met her future husband, Jim Smick, at a dance at Natatorium Park.

They resided in Endicott, where she helped her husband in the running of their wheat farm and Maxine was devoted to the raising of their sons.

After retiring, they moved to Spokane.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, and by her sister, Marlene Arthur this year.

She is survived by her sons, Ron (Maura) of Texas, Greg (Valarie) of Issaquah, WA, Monty (Marlene) of Spokane, Brad (Robin) of Spokane, and Kirk (Judi) of Morrow, GA; her beloved grandchildren; her sister, Kathy (John) Danly of Spokane Valley; and her brother, Bill (Margaret) Clem of Stanwood, WA.

She will be greatly missed by her family, most of whom got to spend time with her during her final weeks at Riverview.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the memorial service to be held on Saturday, April 13th, 2013 at 2PM at Riverview Retirement Center Chapel, 1801 E Upriver Dr. Spokane, WA 99207.

Private interment will be at the Endicott Cemetery, Endicott, WA.

Memorials may be made to the Endicott Cemetery Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
