Spokane emcee Jaeda Glasgow is not only fellowshipping with legendary emcees, she is joining their ranks.

Glasgow recently returned from a stint in Los Angeles where she collaborated with some of her hip-hop heroes centered around the Freestyle Fellowship rhyme collective.

Before that she was touring with Abstract Rude, who helped spearhead LA’s underground hip-hop movement in the early 1990s. Jaeda, as she is simply known on stage, became the first and best-selling artist to sign with Abstract Rude’s label, Keep The Feel Entertainment, with the digital release of her new album, “The Journey.”

Since then, her music career has been moving at the speed of life.

“I just got back from LA where I shot my music video. I also did the ‘Flow and Tell Volume 5.’ It was an all-female lineup. I met all the hot females in LA and got to meet other ladies on the label,” Jaeda said. “KTF Entertainment is definitely estrogen heavy. There is a whole gamut of females working with the team.”

Now Jaeda is with heavy-hitters from the LA rap scene on a tour around the Northwest that culminates with her hosting them in her hometown.

The show features Jaeda with Myka 9, from the Freestyle Fellowship crew, and Medusa, who is widely regarded as the queen of underground hip-hop. They’ll be joined by Missoula’s Tonsofun, another road cohort of Jaeda’s.

“They’re all coming with a four-piece band. It’s going to be jazzy, funky, soulful, bluesy, hip-hop. And having a band allows you to stretch out musically. Myka 9 is the Coltrane of hip-hop. Medusa is the first lady of hip-hop. She’s really one of the queens,” Jaeda said. “I’m honored to be playing with her … humbled. I feel crazy blessed, I’m very excited to warm up the stage for my heroes and it’s amazing to bring them to my hometown.”

This weekend also marks the debut of Jaeda’s new video for “The Real Thing,” which was produced by K. Clifton, aka Quiz, from Spokane’s Bad Penmanship crew, of which Jaeda is also a member.

“The video is for a song I did with Quiz. It’s a lot of people’s favorite song. We did the whole green screen thing with footage of the crew in LA,” Jaeda said. “Quiz made the beat and recorded the track. It just happened. It’s cool for me to bring all of it back together with my homeboys I came up with in the game and having them be a part of the whole journey.”
