Senators show allegiance

Although I’m not surprised, I was disappointed to see Sens. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch as signatories to a letter threatening to filibuster a universal background check bill.

Ninety-one percent of Americans, including 88 percent of Republicans, support expanding background checks to cover private sales and gun shows that account for about 40 percent of gun sales.

The political question has been answered, so why did 13 Republican senators support a filibuster? It must be that they are beholden to the gun lobby. That’s the only reason I can think of to deny the people of this country the representative democracy promised by our founding fathers.
