In brief: Bush daughter gives birth to baby girl
Former President George W. Bush has become a grandfather.
His twin daughter Jenna Bush Hager gave birth to her first child, a daughter, on Saturday night in New York City. The baby’s name is Margaret Laura “Mila” Hager.
Jenna Bush Hager is a contributing correspondent for the “Today” show. She’s married to Henry Hager.
The former president said the baby was named for her grandmothers.
He said he and former first lady Laura Bush met their “beautiful granddaughter today,” adding, “Jenna and Mila are healthy. And our family is elated.”
Comedian Hart arrested on DUI charge
Authorities say comedian Kevin Hart was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after his black Mercedes nearly collided with a tanker trunk on a Southern California freeway.
California Highway Patrol Officer Ed Jacobs said Hart appeared intoxicated when he was pulled over before dawn Sunday on Highway 101 in Los Angeles.
Hart failed a field sobriety test and was booked for misdemeanor DUI. He was released Sunday afternoon after payment of a $5,000 bond.
Jacobs said the Mercedes was being driven erratically at more than 90 mph and nearly slammed into a gas tanker.
A female passenger in Hart’s car was sent home in a taxi.
Hart starred in the 2011 stand-up special “Laugh At My Pain” and has appeared in TV’s “Undeclared” and in several movies.
Hair-filled razor thrown at Jackman
It was a hair-raising experience for actor Hugh Jackman at a New York City gym.
Radio station 1010 WINS said Jackman was working out in a gym Saturday morning in Manhattan when a woman rushed in, crying and shouting that she loved him.
The “X-Men” star told the radio station Sunday that the run-in was frightening.
Police say 47-year-old Kathleen Thurston pulled out a razor filled with hair and threw it at him, then fled and was arrested several blocks from the gym. Jackman wasn’t hurt.
Thurston is charged with stalking and awaits arraignment.
Police say she has gone near the victim and his family before.
