Obituary: Halstead, John William

HALSTEAD, John William (Age 23) John Halstead, our beloved son and brother, departed our lives April 9 due to an aneurism.

John will be remembered for his radiant smile, wonderful sense of humor, and his concern for others.

Everyone could count on John’s love and laughter to lift their spirits.

He loved and cherished life, adventure, family, and friends.

John was a talented writer.

He loved scuba diving, fly fishing, animals, camping, skiing Mt.

Spokane, flying model rockets, music and technology.

He had visited all 50 states.

John’s favorite places were his home, Maui, Lake Chelan, Seattle and Disneyland.

His favorite companion in the world was his brother Joey.

Although born a year apart, John and Joey were twins with one heart.

John attended First Pres.

Preschool, Hutton, Sacajawea, and Lewis and Clark.

He attended the U of I before transferring to WSU.

He was currently finishing his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and English.

John is survived by his beloved parents Debbie and Jeff Halstead; his cherished brother Joey; his devoted dogs Teddy, Max, and Odie; loving grandparents Bill and Lois Rex of Seattle and Joanne and John Moyer of Spokane and treasured uncles, aunts and cousins, all of whom John adored.

A celebration of John’s wonderful life will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Avenue, Saturday, April 20 at 3 p.m. Memorials may be sent to the Pacific Whale Foundation.

Words cannot describe the depth of the love we hold for our adored son and brother, or the grief we feel at our loss.

We will always carry John’s radiant presence in our thoughts and in our hearts.
