Tomeo’s vault ranks 7th in D-III

Senior pole vaulter Chibron Tomeo cleared 15 feet, 11 1/4 inches at the Whitworth Twilight Meet on Thursday, a mark that ranks him seventh nationally in NCAA Division III.

Senior Frank Lima and freshman Nate Stenson cleared 6-8 3/4 in the high jump, ranking them 10th.

Whitworth had 25 conference-qualifying marks.

Golf

University of Washington golfer Chris Williams of Moscow, Idaho, is among the 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award, the most prestigious award in men’s college golf.

The award takes into account collegiate and amateur competitions during a 12-month period that dates to the previous Ben Hogan Award banquet. This is year’s award will be present on May 20.
