Eastern signs Australia’s Von Hofe

Eastern Washington went Down Under again in search of men’s basketball talent.

Australian forward Felix Von Hofe will join the Eagles next fall after a successful career in his home country, Eastern head coach Jim Hayford said.

“Felix is a great shooter and solid all-around player,” Hayford said.

The 6-foot-5 Von Hofe is from Melbourne and is attending the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. He graduated from Wesley College in 2012, and played for the Wesley College Firsts basketball team from 2010 to 2012. In his final year at Wesley, he averaged 24 points and seven rebounds per game.

Von Hofe also played for the Melbourne Tigers, who won the McDonald’s National Junior Classic tournament and the Victorian Junior Championship in 2010 and 2011.

Von Hofe will join a pair of fellow Australians already in the Eastern program. Venky Jois (Boronia) was the Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year in the 2012-13 season, and Daniel Hill (Sydney) played valuable minutes off the bench as a freshman point guard. Jordan Hickert (Bunbury) was a senior on that squad.
