5 questions

Oertel

Staff writer Christian Caple asks WSU football players five questions and posts videos of the short interviews on Sportslink. Here are a few excerpts from those interviews. For the complete interviews, go to Coug Report at spokesman.com/cougs

Eric Oertel, linebacker

If you could play any other position, what would it be?

Actually, it’s between QB and kicker, just because Andrew Furney makes it look like something cool to do. He comes out here and does nothing at practice but look good. He’s good at that. He kicks game-winning field goals and everybody knows his name. I feel like that would be a good job. And he has a cute girlfriend, too. I feel like he has it all going for him.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

It’s either to be able to have telekinesis and move stuff with my mind or I want to be able to do the stuff that Ironman does. I want to be a superhero in my next life. Either that or Andrew Furney.

What is the most important non-football thing you have learned?

Watch out for the moms on mom’s weekend. That’s probably the No. 1 thing that I can think of. That’s the most important thing.

If you could have dinner with any three people, who would they be and what would you serve?

First one would be Mark Wahlberg, because he’s the man. Second one would be Justin Timberlake, because he seems like he would be cool to hang out with. And my third … I can’t say any girls, because my girlfriend would get mad, so it would have to be either Rob Dyrdek or Will Ferrell, because I feel like they would have me dying laughing. And maybe Beyonce, but my girlfriend didn’t hear that. I would serve Midnight Train from Red Bento. I would say that I made it, of course. Either that or I would make something I can cook like macaroni and cheese or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but I would make it look all fancy. Cut the crusts off or something.
