Police seek tips in South Hill bank robbery

A South Hill bank was robbed Tuesday afternoon by a man claiming to have a gun.

The man came to Wells Fargo Bank branch at 2910 E. 30th and demanded cash. He indicated that he had a gun, police said, but no gun was seen. He escaped around 3 p.m. with an undisclosed amount of cash in a white, two-door vehicle driving southbound on Regal Street. A witness said the car may have been a Chevy Cavalier.

The robber was described as a 5-foot-6 white male, with some kind of facial hair, who wore a black hooded sweatshirt and large sunglasses. Anyone with information about the man or his vehicle should call Crime Check at 456-2233.
