Pot brownies allegedly sold to schoolchildren

Associated Press
SEATTLE — Police investigating reports that middle school and high school students were buying marijuana from a Seattle house say they’ve arrested three people and seized eight trays of marijuana brownies. Detective Jeff Kappel said Wednesday’s raid involved SWAT officers and narcotics detectives with a search warrant. Also seized were 99 marijuana cigarettes, seven marijuana plants, four shotguns and six handguns. Detectives had observed school-aged children from Ballard High School and Whitman Middle School going to the back door of the home and buying marijuana. Washington voters passed Initiative 502 last fall, joining Colorado as the first states to legalize recreational marijuana for adults over 21. Kappel notes that I-502 didn’t make it legal to sell marijuana to school-aged children.
