Spokane water customers to be billed monthly

City of Spokane water customers will be billed for their water use monthly, instead of every two months, the city announced today. Meters will still be read every other month, but the charges will be spread over two months, according to a news release. The move follows a pilot program last summer, the release said. The new billing cycle will begin in May. “The move is part of an overall strategy to make City utility rates more understandable, affordable, and predictable,” the release said. City utility customers receive one monthly bill that includes charges for garbage pickup, water, recycling and wastewater and stormwater management. Customers can request that utility charges be spread evenly across all 12 months, an option the city calls “budget billing.”
