Vancouver man killed in Highway 41 crash

A fatal crash blocked both directions of Highway 41 near Hamilton Road in Rathdrum for several hours Thursday, according to a Idaho State Police news release. A Vancouver man, identified by ISP as Brian E. Thompson, 50, was traveling north on the highway when he crossed the center line and hit a log truck. Thompson was pronounced deceased at the scene, the release said. Thompson was driving a 2012 Toyota Prius. Another driver, identified as Robert S. Cook, 44, of Blanchard, drove off the roadway to avoid the collision. He was not injured. The log truck driver, identified by ISP as Raymond O. Colvin, 50, of Addy, was not injured either.
