Architecture

NAC|Architecture has hired Jeff Hyslop as an intern architect and promoted Jon St. Pierre to associate in its Spokane office. Hyslop was with the firm for three years before attending graduate school at the University of Washington. St. Pierre is an electrical system designer.

Communications

Desautel Hege Communications (DHC) has added Christine Varela to the Partner team, promoted Sara Desautel to account director, and hired Todd Zeidler as an account executive. Varela has been with DHC for two years and has experience in public relations, public affairs and marketing. Desautel has more than five years of experience in the design and implementation of marketing campaigns. Zeidler has more than three years of communications experience. Previously, he was with the athletic communications department at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Education

Kirsten Adams Gable has been elected vice president of the Whitman College Alumni Association. Gable is a 2001 graduate of Whitman and has been a management consultant at Sapere Consulting for 10 years.

Finance

Horizon Credit Union placed second for the National Desjardin Youth Financial Education Award. Horizon was awarded based on the success of their Piggy Hunt Program, which promotes youth financial literacy.

The Downtown Rotary Club 21 has accepted WSU Spokane Chancellor Lisa Brown for membership.

Recipients of the West Plains Chamber of Commerce 2013 Best of the West awards are as follows: Matt Boyd of Burke Construction Group, Spokane Teachers Credit Union, Spokane International Airport, Brook Anderson of Blackhawk Veterinary Hospital, Owl Pharmacies, Rokko’s Teriyaki and Barbecue, Sunshine Disposal and Recycling, Cleone’s Closet, Brian K. Anderson of the Spokane FD 3, Eastern Washington University, Steve Emtman, Mayor Tom Trulove, Cheney Rodeo, and Steve Taylor of Taylor Computing. Educators of the Year: Jeff Butler of the Cheney School District, Darrel John of the Medical Lake School District, and Nadean Meyer of Eastern Washington University. Military Persons of the Year: Capt. Shannon Yellin, 141st Air National Guard; Master Sgt. Michael H. Alford, Air Education and Training Command; Tech. Sgt. Bradley Barkhauer, 92nd Air Mobility Command; and Senior Airman Jennifer Soulier, 336th Survival School-Air Mobility Command/Air National Guard.

Nonprofit

Skils’kin announced that Patrick Striker and Dana Wall have been hired as staffing managers; and that Amanda Vazquez will continue to manage the community access programs as part of the new Employment Services Management team. Previously, Striker was with Sullivan Park Assisted Living. Wall has more than 30 years of experience in direct sales and community advocacy. Vazquez has been with Skils’kin for five years.
