Obituary: Rehwald, Carol (Dullanty)
Age 78
Carol, a “Spokane” girl through and through; was born August 31, 1934 at Sacred Heart to her joyous parents, Gladys and JJ Dullanty and brothers, John and George.
She was one of an elite group of students who attended Wilson for eight years and then Lewis and Clark for four years.
Carol was the one everyone wanted to be around and be friends with; she was sweet, kind, charming, certainly beautiful but tough when it was called for; to which her sons can attest.
After graduating from LC, she attended Washington State College.
There she studied hard, had great fun and met Ted Rehwald, Jr. who would become the love of her life and their marriage would last nearly 50 years until his death in 2002.
They made their life together in Southern California, with frequent visits to Spokane and her brother’s cabin at Priest Lake.
Carol and Ted had three sons; Ted, Tom and Tim.
To them and their friends she was absolutely the best mom.
She was everything good that comes to mind when you say the word, Mother.
Carol was a high energy, hard-working woman.
She helped others through her volunteering efforts but most of all loved taking care of her family, friends and her garden and yard.
She was accomplished at golf, water and snow skiing.
Upon her husband’s death she returned to Spokane and enjoyed her family, old and new friends and her fourth child, Sugar, a Maltese mix that was a terrific companion.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Ted, her parents, Gladys and JJ, brothers John and George and her sister-in-law Doris.
She is survived by her sons, Ted and wife Chris, Tom and wife Terri, Tim and wife Lili; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and Sugar.
Carol’s cruel encounter with Alzheimer’s at the end of her life left her with not much more than her dignity and the many who loved her.
