Spokane police investigate alleged kidnapping, assault

From staff reports
Two people have been arrested on charges of second-degree kidnapping after a woman told Spokane police this morning she was held captive and sexually assaulted in a home at 4605 N. Lincoln Street. Spokane Police Detective Lydia Prichard said the woman called police around 5:30 a.m. and said she had escaped through a window in the home. She led police to the house, Prichard said, and detectives questioned and arrested Keila Chapman, 27, and Merriah Wernsdorfer, 30, on the kidnapping charges, according to a police statement. A search warrant of the house is underway. Prichard said the kidnapping and assault do not appear to be random acts of violence. “It appears to be related to the drug trade,” she said.
