Scottsboro case shameful
It has been 82 years since the Scottsboro Boys were wrongly accused of raping two women on a train. It has been 24 years since the last Scottsboro Boy died. Why have we waited until now to pardon these boys? Why did we let them spend their lives paying for something they didn’t do? How could one of the women have stepped forward, admitted that everything was a lie, and still nothing was done?
We live in an amazing world. We have sent people into space; we have saved miners who were trapped for weeks underground. So why has it taken this long to pardon the Scottsboro Boys?
These boys were between 13 and 19 when they were wrongly accused. They spent their lives as outcasts for their “crime.” They were doubted because of the color of their skin. I understand that’s the way it was back then. I also know that these boys should have been pardoned much sooner.
It is sad that in this wonderful world of ours, it has taken this long. These boys were never truly free, and now it is too late for them to ever be free on Earth.
