Obituary: Helton, Delia

HELTON, Delia Delia Helton was born October 11, 1928, to Ismael and Otilia Ortega in Veragua, Panama.

She met and married James Helton in Panama.

They moved to Spokane in 1961 where he was stationed at Fairchild AFB.

Delia is survived by their six children, George (Sara) Helton, Cairo, GA, Judy Pollock, Sumter, SC, Rose (Bill) Fishburn, Spokane, Henry Helton, Aiea, HI, Doris (Sam) Fabrizio, Charles (Jozette) Helton, Spokane; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by several brothers, numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins, all in Panama.

Delia was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and several of her brothers in Panama; her husband, James; son-in-law, John Pollock; and grandson, Brian Pollock.

Delia worked for many years at the Holiday Inn.

She attended Spokane Community College, where she became a cashier.

She retired due to medical difficulties.

She loved her vegetable and flower gardens for many years.

She has been a member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall for over 52 years.

We would like to thank Mrs. Gingrick, Mrs. Givens, Mrs. Connie Lavalley, and all her friends for the help they gave our mother over the years.

Delia will be remembered for her love of life, her dedication to her God, family and friends, and her generosity to others.

Her memorial will be at the Kingdom Hall located at 2405 East 57th Avenue, Spokane, on Monday, April 29, 2013, from 3-4 PM.

Viewing will be held at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe, Spokane, on Wednesday, May 1, and Thursday, May 2, from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Delia will be interred at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane at 3 PM on Thursday.
