Biel a rare candidate

The citizens of the city of Spokane have the opportunity next week to elect a rare capable candidate to serve us on our city council. I say rare because LaVerne Biel provides a combination of leadership, experience and skills that will serve us well. Most such qualified folks do not commit to serve in public office.

LaVerne is a longtime Spokane resident and business owner. She has contributed to the community through her involvement in children’s and church programs, neighborhood organizations, industry associations and state legislative issues. LaVerne and her husband are the owners of Access Unified Networks located in the International District on East Sprague, which they founded 19 years ago.

They have operated this growing technology business through the rapid changes that have occurred in the communications industry and made it prosper. LaVerne has lived with her family in the Perry District for 30 years.

LaVerne possesses a skill set we need at City Hall, including a strong sense of fiscal discipline and an understanding of human resource issues – union contracts, compensation levels, benefit programs and labor relations.

LaVerne is truly a leader who is capable of helping govern our city. Please join me in electing LaVerne.
