CdA man in custody following brief standoff

A man has barricaded himself with a handgun in a room at a Coeur d’Alene retirement home, police said. The man is alone in a room at the Bestland Retirement Apartments on 606 E. Best Ave., according to a news release. The street is closed on Best Avenue from Sixth Place to Ninth Street. Citizens are asked to avoid the area.
