Tea party to blame

In Becky McPherson’s “Obama a bust” July 27 letter, she states, “He has the country divided asunder as no U.S. president.” The country has been divided for more than 20 years and got a lot worse with the insertion of the tea party into our national politics.

Those ultraconservative members of the GOP are radical and unreasonable, taking on a “my-way-or-the-highway” position that is completely unworkable in Washington. They have even divided their own party. Obama is just remaining steady in the face of this hubris.
