In brief: Arizona wins, will host Shock

AFL: Arizona and Spokane will meet for the third time this season, this time with the National Conference championship on the line.

The top-seeded Rattlers rallied to defeat San Jose 59-49 Sunday in Phoenix. Arizona (16-3) will entertain Spokane (15-4) on Saturday at US Airways Center. The teams split during the regular season.

Former Shock quarterback Nick Davila threw seven touchdown passes for the Rattlers. He was 21 of 35 for 233 yards and one interception.

Spokane defeated Chicago 69-47 in its playoff opener Thursday.

Pressel makes Solheim Cup

Golf: Morgan Pressel played her way onto another Solheim Cup team in the Women’s British Open.

Michelle Wie is returning as a captain’s pick.

The American team was completed Sunday at St. Andrews when Pressel tied for fourth and bumped Jennifer Johnson from the last of two spots through the world ranking.

Captain Meg Mallon took Wie and Solheim Cup rookie Gerina Piller as her captain’s picks.

European captain Liselotte Neumann used one of her four picks on 17-year-old Charley Hull of England, making her the youngest player in Solheim Cup history. Associated Press

Hernandez uncle killed in crash

NFL: The uncle of murder suspect and former NFL star Aaron Hernandez has been killed in a moped crash in Connecticut.

Bristol police identified the victim of the early Saturday morning crash as Robert Valentine of Bristol.

It was the second recent fatal accident involving a Hernandez relative. Thaddeus Singleton III of Bristol was killed when the car he was driving slammed into a country club building on June 30. He was married to Hernandez’s cousin.
