Obituary: Madison, Edith (Gray)

Age 91

MADISON, Edith (Gray) (Age 91) Went to be with the Lord August 3, 2013 in Spokane Valley, WA.

She was born June 14, 1922 in Seattle, WA and graduated from Franklin High School there.

She attended SCC night school, Spokane, 1960-63.

Edith worked for the Bon Marche, Spokane, 1960-66 in the Traffic Office and Credit Office; did collection agency work, 1966-74 (process serving for three years); and Family Medicine of Spokane, 1974-80 in the credit office.

Edith married Hartley Madison in February, 1941 and came to Spokane in 1947.

She is a former member of First Baptist Church and Loma Vista Baptist Church (both of Spokane), at the latter of which she was the church organist.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Gray and Clara (Gray) Fix; and her brother, Donald Gray.

She is survived by her brother, Herb (Frances) Gray of Olympia, WA; her children, Douglas (Diane) Madison of Vancouver, WA, Carolyn (Ray) Daigen of Helena, MT, Jo Ann Madison of Spokane, Linda Allen of Hayden, ID, Christine (Art) Britton of Spokane Valley, Pauline (Les) McCann of Spokane; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.

Edith devoted her life to serving God and her family.

She was an avid gardener for over 60 years.

Visitation will be held at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. on Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

The Funeral Service will be in the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave. on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service where Edith will be laid to rest with her husband, Hartley, of 69 years.
