Obituary: Tegler, Dorothy Louise Riley
Age 100
Dorothy was born in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas to Fred and Alvina (Walle) Riley on March 10 1913; she graduated from Osawatomie KS High School in 1930.
It was in Osawatomie that she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Jack Burton Tegler.
They married July 31, 1936.
Dorothy was immensely proud of her Kansas roots and her Irish and German heritage.
A 60 year resident of Spokane, Dorothy was employed by Deaconess Hospital from 1960 until her retirement in 1977; she then became a volunteer at Deaconess for 8 more years.
Dorothy is survived by her devoted son, Thomas Tegler of Spokane and two daughters, Janice Richter of Port Townsend WA and Susan Petersen of Federal Way WA.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1966 and her only sister Florence King in 2004.
Dorothy’s family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Harbor Crest and Harbor Glen for the loving care they’ve given Dorothy over the years and to Hospice of Spokane in her final days.
No service will be held at Dorothy’s request.
She will return to Kansas where she will be buried in her family’s section in Wichita Memorial Park.
